2011 McLaren Vale Pinot Gris

The 2011 growing season was tough for almost everyone. McLaren Vale held up well in relative terms, especially those vineyards farming using biodynamic principles as this one is. Botrytis was a factor with infection spotted throughout the region however hand harvesting & hand sorting ensured only quality fruit made its way into this wine.

With a lean straw colour the 2011 Pinot Gris clearly demonstrates its youth. The bouquet is fragrant with complex aromas of pears, spice, green apples and a hint of earthy mushrooms. The palate expresses linear minerality underneath the complexity displayed on the nose and finishes with a delicate spice. Perfect with a fennel & blue cheese salad, this is an exceptional food wine...

Vinification:
Vinified without the use of oak resulting in a clean and crisp wine with pure varietal expression. Textural elements of the wine are derived from the use of a high proportion of natural solids throughout fermentation.
