2012 McLaren Vale Pinot Gris
The 2012 vintage was brilliant all round. Ample rainfall in the winter leading up & moderate temperatures without any major weather events to disrupt the vineyards from veraison to harvest. Those farming biodynamically, as this vineyard is, shone as grapes were clean, vines healthy & flavours intense.
With a deep straw colour the 2012 Pinot Gris clearly demonstrates it’s outgoing nature. The bouquet is fragrant with complex aromas of pears, spice, green apples and a hint of earthy mushrooms. The palate expresses linear minerality underneath the complexity displayed on the nose and finishes with a earth & spice. The textural mid palate & crisp acidity makes this an exceptional food wine, perfect with a fennel & blue cheese salad.
Vinification:
Vinified without the use of oak resulting in a clean and crisp wine with pure varietal expression. Textural elements of the wine are derived from the use of a high proportion of natural solids throughout fermentation & extended maturation on natural lees with regular battonage.
