2012 ODEON Riesling
ODEON (noun): An ancient theatre where poets & musicians performed for public approval.
From the same vineyard as the Vinteloper Watervale Riesling, the two wines are seperate only in the method of vinification. The specific techniques employed in the making of this wine must remain, in some part, clandestine, but in essence, the basis is to go against the rules & framework of my winemaking education, against the accepted science using techniques reminiscent of ancient times. It is from this philosophy that the wine derives it name & represents my performance upon which I seek judgement...
Sitting precariously on the tension of genius & madness, you will see concentration & complexity unlike conventional Australian Riesling.
Limited production of 456 bottles.

When you study & begin your career you are told to do things a certain way - convention. Why? I guess there are some legitimate reasons. I don’t care for convention much - hence I make ODEON Riesling using techniques from a time past. No modern wisdom, just focus & feel.
