The Vinteloper Story

Vinteloper Wines is a fiercely independent winery owned and operated by David Bowley. Unapologetically producing artisan varietal wines that have been specifically matched with the South Australian regions in which David believes they are grown best.
The "Home Vineyard" is located near Norton Summit in the Adelaide Hills where David maintains 3.5 acres of Pinot Noir & 1.2 acres of Sauvignon Blanc. The remaining wines are sourced from vineyards owned by friends & family in the regions of Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale & Clare Valley, vineyards that in some cases, David has worked on over several years.
The winery, based in the Adelaide Hills, has no other staff and no modern equipment. David believes it's not the size of the winery rather the dedication, attention and focus that are most important to his winemaking.
A significant investment of time & care is put into the vineyards year round to ensure consistency in terrior no matter the variation of vintage conditions. Importantly, the wines are and will always be sourced from the same vineyards.
About David
Growing up in the Adelaide foothills, David developed an interest in wine during his high school years. Driving along Oaklands Road to Sacred Heart College each day, David passed one of Australia's most famous suburban vineyards, a small block in front of Marion swimming centre that still supplies Patritti Wines to this day. As the number of times David past this vineyard mounted, so did his curiosity.
It was around this time that David began working with cork importer Vasconcelos & Lyncke Australia. From these formative days, the path was set, albeit subconciously, a genuine interest in wine, the science of production and all things adjacent had begun to develop.
David graduated from a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Oenology) at Adelaide University in 2002, going on to experience vintages in Australia and abroad. David's focus has now become pairing the premium regions South Australia possesses with their pre-eminent varieties to create his own truly artisan wines.
