For the astute Vinteloper follower, many of you will know how much time I spend in Melbourne each year. Truth be known, my wife has a 'real job' that has me based in Melbourne about 8 months of the year.
As the self-proclaimed capital of all things wine and food this June the winemakers of Langhorne Creek have decided to celebrate their newly minted wine show status and bring their wares to town. Melbourne town that is. Nowhere else.
Here is a news release giving you some insight into 'DISCOVER LANGHORNE CREEK' Launching in Melbourne in June.
Where is Langhorne Creek you may ask? It’s only a short drive south east of Adelaide but has long flown under the radar. Why? Because they’re a pretty humble lot despite boasting over six generations of winemaking history in the region. But that’s about to change.
On Sunday 22 June the makers and their award winning wines (only award winners are allowed to come!) hit Melbourne with a tasting event that will showcase the finest from ‘the Creek’. Wine lovers will go on a journey of discovery (you don’t know what you don’t know!), to sip and savour the region’s best drops as judged by wine luminary Nigel Dolan, Brokenwood legend Iain Riggs and irreverent wine writer Nick Ryan.
Fearless tasters will weave and wander their way through the quirky surrounds of Arteveneta, a unique furniture workshop tucked away in a back lane, where over 100 wines will be on taste. DJ Sammy Sax will be spinning some funky beats, there will be Italian food to match and the scene will be set for a Sunday session like no other.
And expect the unexpected! Think makers like Bleasdale, Kimbolton, Bremerton, Brothers in Arms, Zonte’s Footsteps, Ben Potts, Geoff Hardy and Lake Breeze amongst others. Taste Chardonnay, Verdelho, Pinot Gris, Moscato, Rosé, Shiraz, Cabernet and the region’s flagship, Malbec. Young and fresh or elegant and mature, there will be something here for new and experienced wine drinkers alike.
