CH/20 - Chardonnay

An evolution of the former Vinteloper rich OG style Chardonnay. From 2020 we’ve chased some austerity.

We’re not shying from the classics here. It’s all about the fruit; low yielding, clonal selection picked in the window of generosity but imparting our Vinteloper twist and cool climate restraint.

Like the quiet appeal of understated luxury. As the ‘natural wine’ scene gathers pace for its faulty and bizarre examples, we choose to take on those who think in order to be natural it must be weird. It’s got the precision of a perfectly tailored, freshly pressed white button-up shirt, worn untucked with jeans.

Acid profile. Structure. White nectarine restraint with lemon meringue, honeysuckle over a hint of freshly buttered toast. A sophisticated and restrained fruit profile follows. It’s Lemon drop, orange blossom and stone fruit, building through a waxy mid-palate texture. No doubting it is approaching a full-bodied style but shows balance and integration from start to finish.
