The Black Label wines are an experimental range where we can really flex our creative winemaking muscle.
This is Pinot Noir under the spotlight. Raw & energetic. Centre stage.
The black label is our place to try new things and to challenge some ideas.
Founded in minimal intervention techniques throughout and bottled without fining so as not to fight against all the layers and edges we'd allowed to exist.
Here we're bringing the raw energy of a 'neo' release.
Vivacious and bright, the cherry and sage varietals are bouncing off each other, hitting peaks upfront.
From start to finish, you sense the fruit-forward bright smashability of this wine as the juicy red fruits dominate.
Straight from the K.I.S.S method handbook.
Where it comes from
NEONOIR started at harvest. Selecting the Kuitpo vineyard, farmed by Ben Schmaal, for its bright punchy fruit and freshness, we harvested at optimum acid ripeness instead of sugar / flavour. This gave us the punchy palate that would pop as a fresh, 'neo' style Pinot Noir.
From there, cool and slow fermentation to protect the aromatics, neutral old oak for textural impact and higher DCO2 for a little tickle on the tongue.
