PN/22 - Pinot Noir

This is analogue wine.
No tech, just craftsmanship and care.

We know that growing and making Pinot Noir is rarely without obstacle.
That's why we love it and why we praise the accomplished seasons.
2022 is certainly one of those. 

Minimal intervention winemaking is always key with Pinot Noir. But when it comes to a variety so delicate and challenging, collaboration between winemaker and grape grower is the path to the highest quality.

Everyone needs a go-to Pinot on their wine rack. We've dedicated decades to make this yours. 

Garnet red, a deeper hue than many previous Vinteloper releases, and aligned with our 2020 release.

Aromatically it's shy at first. The red berry and cherry fruit is there, but so is the smell of a warm over after roasting veggies and a peaty, earthy moss and complex spice. Woah!

On the palate the varietal characters are strong.
It is clinical Pinot Noir.
A blue fruit character sneaks in to back the cherry and baking spice varietal characters.
It displays length with a light touch. A nod to the very fine structure and complexity.

To finish, a retronasal pine needle freshness delights.

Two dedicated grape growers with whom we have collaborated for most of the last decade.

Located in two very diverse sub-regions of the Adelaide Hills - Lenswood (cold) and Kuitpo (not as cold).

20% whole bunches.
Matured for 11 months in French oak.
40% new.
Bottled without fining or filtration.
Minimal sulphur added.
