SH/20 - Shiraz

NAILED IT!
OUR 12TH VINTAGE IS A MODERN CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN SHIRAZ. 

Do not expect the Shiraz your Dad drinks.
This is our interpretation of what our friends want to slide into their glass.

Restrained complexity is what Adelaide Hills Shiraz does so well, and our 2020 release is the poster child. 

12 vintages released! We've been working at this a while now...

SH/20 starts by revealing its deep garnet hue.
The aromatics are notably lifted and reveal dark fruit, Christmas cake, vanilla bean and if you search, a hint of dried apricot.

On the palate, it goes juicy Shiraz style straight up.
Plums, blackcurrants and fresh blueberries.
But ponder for a moment and you'll see the complexity backing it. A hint of brine. Gentle char and subtle tannin from French oak.

It's a true medium-bodied style.
Complexity underpinned by tannins that emerge up front then melt in your mouth.

2020 was 'that year'.
The Black Summer bushfires laid waste to homes and livelihoods, and that legacy is captured in bottle here.

With our Estate fruit destroyed, and 33% of the Adelaide Hills crop lost due to fire, it's a miracle we made any wine.
A heartfelt thanks to the growers that supported us to make this wine. Longview Vineyard, St Clair Vineyard and although not blended into this wine, Gemtree Vineyards.

SH/20 was sourced from Longview Vineyard and St Clair Vineyard.
Both harvested on 18/3/20
Straight up Shiraz winemaking.
Great fruit = great results.
On skins for a total of 10 days. 
30% New French Oak, 70% seasoned. 
Matured in barrel for 20 months.
No fining or filtration.
Ready to drink now to 2033

Our SH/20 has medium to full bodied feels. It's Shiraz, no doubt, but from our cool climate it's subtle.
It's still the top candidate for matching with the traditional proteins, cooked over fire preferably.
