Fling back the curtain of winemaking. 

As we geared up toward season 10, bushfire put our plans into chaos.
Never have we made an Urban Winery Project wine that is so meaningful. 
Always a tribute to hard work.
Representing not the 200+ people who picked, stomped and fermented wine with us at our event.

Here we tribute those who supported and stood by Vinteloper at the hardest time in our history. 

To the growers who sold or donated grapes to us in 2020 after our own crop was destroyed. For the volunteers who helped in the cleanup effort of our razed property. 

Followed swiftly by a global pandemic, making social events next to impossible, we are yet to revive this once popular annual festival, and with so much uncertainty in the world in 2022, we don't know if we ever will.

This is a part of history.

A departure from the usually restrained Vinteloper style. Deep red with a purple rim hints at the richer soils of McLaren Vale that represent the backbone of this wine.

'Oh baby, this is a juicy red wine party!' I hear as it kicks off with raspberry, plum, blackcurrant and florals.

As you lock lips with this juicy red the vibes are all positive. You get that classic McLaren Vale chocolate milk softness. With redskins candy and blueberry, all balanced by graphite-like tannin keeping the palate tight.

Wrapped up in a medium-bodied casing of easy-drinking Tempranillo, it's got a popping candy appeal, ready to blast your taste buds.

Our Urban Winery Project looked a little different this year. With no yield after the bushfires and nationwide restrictions making our much-loved 'foot stomp, basket press, tasting it along the way' approach to making wine; absolutely impossible - we did it good, but different.

We felt there was a cause here. And we stayed committed. Urban has always been wine by the people, for the people, and from 2020 we've taken that second part to heart.

This is a wine by the Vinteloper team, for the people we need to thank. A blend of select components of Shiraz + Tempranillo crushed and made with freed minds and big dreams.

The mantra of the Urban Winery Project is participation, education (and as well as a healthy dose of emancipation), and collaboration. Each year the UWP labels are created for us by artists we love. The label for Red # 10 comes from Aboriginal artist Jade Akamarre (@jadeakamarre) owner of Pwelre Aboriginal Art Gallery (@pwerlegallery)
